Marie Adler-Kravecas, Former President, Myron Manufacturing
“We have always been a company where loyalty counts -- a family company. We are successful, but in recent years our growth seemed to have reached a plateau and I wanted more. I saw the opportunity for us to be a $1 billion organization if everyone at every level could share my vision and passion for this goal. To do this, I needed some sort of a breakthrough mechanism to engage and enable my management team and colleagues throughout the organization to participate in the planning and decision-making aspects of moving Myron to the next growth level. With Judith Anderson's coaching, my management team developed a shared goal and individual goals. My goal was to off-load 30 percent of the decisions I was making and to develop confidence in my team's ability to make decisions. The program was intensive, requiring two-hour meetings with each team member and coach every two weeks, and a three-hour meeting with the team every three weeks. I was delighted when my colleagues saw immediate value in the coaching program. Over time, we developed the skills to speak directly about and resolve challenging issues. It brought us closer, allowed us to ask for and receive the support we needed from one another. What is more, the company is experiencing accelerated growth and we can all share the credit for it. In just six months, we have become a more confident, competent and enthusiastic team. I have handed off at least 30 percent of the decision-making. With me doing less and being more supportive, my team is more effective. I have more time to focus on strategic development opportunities. Equally important to me, we have maintained the family culture that I have always cherished, and added to it the values of boldness, enthusiasm, and openness.
